Wander the Trail of Western Adventure

When Captains Meriwether Lewis and William Clark made their historic journey to the Pacific Northwest, they were treated to some of nature's most awesome sights. In describing the area now known as Great Falls, they used adjectives such as "splendid" and "beautiful." It is this same breath-taking country that nearly a century later inspired "America's Cowboy Artist" Charles M. Russell. The legacy of these men, along with the Plains Indian culture which first nurtured this land, enlivens our history and enriches our western heritage.

Great Falls offers you the opportunity to see many of the extraordinary sights and sounds that so thrilled and inspired captains Lewis and Clark and Charlie Russell. We invite you to discover these natural wonders for yourself and experience the beauty of the West. See history come alive as you enjoy the area's special monuments and tributes to the men and women who have left such a rich heritage. Through the C.M. Russell Museum, the Ulm Pishkun Buffalo Jump, the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Interpretive Center and other historic landmarks, you truly can relive the Old West.

All this history is set against a backdrop of fine restaurants, hotels, casinos, city parks, shopping malls and specialty stores that make Montana's second largest city an ideal place for a vacation. Great Falls is easily accessible by car and three major airlines, making travel to and from your hometown a breeze. Make your plans today for a fun, informative and relaxing visit.

A Landmark Between National Treasures
Great Falls is conveniently located between America's two premiere national parks, easily reached via interstate highway or U.S. 89, a national scenic byway. Glacier National Park is just (two to three hours) or 160 miles northwest of Great Falls, while Yellowstone National Park is (four to five hours) or 265 miles south.

Glacier is a million-acre park featuring enormous glacier-shaped mountains, lush valleys, beautiful lakes and a handful of actual glaciers. Yellowstone is the world's oldest national park, and is famous for its many geysers, including the legendary Old Faithful.

When traveling between these two spectacular parks, don't miss your chance to experience Great Falls. You won't be disappointed.
